Yakult Oesterreich GmbH to be Established

Oct 2005

In November 2005, Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd. (President, Sumiya Hori) plans to establish the sales and marketing company, Yakult Oesterreich GmbH (Yakult Austria), which is scheduled to begin sales of “Yakult” in the Austrian market in January 2006.
Currently, sales of “Yakult” are being undertaken in 25 countries and regions around the world. In Europe, sales of “Yakult” began at companies established locally in the Netherlands in 1994, in Belgium in 1995, and in England and Germany in 1996. Furthermore, sales of Yakult Light began in Europe in 2002.

Austria shares a border with Germany, where Yakult is already being sold, and in recent years requests to expand sales of “Yakult” to stores in Austria from supermarket chains currently stocking it in Germany have become stronger and stronger. Thus, Yakult Europe plans to establish a 100% owned local subsidiary company in Austria to sell “Yakult” imported from the Yakult Europe factory in the Netherlands.
Europe’s largest dairy makers have already entered the Austrian market, so Yakult’s aim for Austria is the establishment of a sales base and the penetration of their own Yakult brand.
